Sharing Recipes

You can share any recipe with friends and family directly from the recipe detail page. Tap the Share button to open the iOS Share Sheet, where you can send the recipe via:

Shared recipes are sent as Schema.org JSON files — a widely-used standard format for recipes. Recipients who have Ressup can import the recipe directly. Others will receive a readable text version.

Sharing History

You can view your sharing history in the app:

Export Formats

From the recipe detail page, tap Export to choose from several formats:

PDF

A print-ready document with your recipe title, ingredients, steps, and formatting. Perfect for printing or saving as a permanent reference.

HTML

A web-friendly file with styling. Useful if you want to publish your recipe on a blog or website.

Shopping List

A plain-text list of just the ingredients — ready to copy into a notes app, send via text, or print out before heading to the store.

You can also generate a shopping list by voice: say "Export shopping list" or "Create shopping list from recipe" to Siri.

Social Media Text

A formatted text snippet optimized for sharing on Instagram, Twitter/X, or other social platforms. Includes the recipe name, key details, and a clean layout.

Importing Recipes

Ressup can import recipes from Schema.org JSON format — the same format used for sharing and backups. There are two ways to import:

From the App

  1. Go to the Import screen (available from the menu or when receiving a shared recipe).
  2. Either paste the JSON text directly or pick a file from your device.
  3. Ressup parses the data and creates a new recipe in your collection.

From Sharing

When someone sends you a recipe from Ressup, tapping the shared file will open the import screen automatically.

Backup & Restore

Backing up your recipes is important — and Ressup makes it simple.

Creating a Backup

  1. Go to Settings > Backup.
  2. Tap "Save Backup File."
  3. Ressup creates a JSON file containing all your recipes (named with the current date, e.g., Ressup_Backup_2026-02-09_1430.json).
  4. The Share Sheet opens so you can save the file to iCloud Drive, Files, email it to yourself, or save it anywhere you like.

Restoring from Backup

  1. Go to Settings > Backup.
  2. Tap "Restore from Backup."
  3. Select your backup JSON file from the file picker.
  4. Ressup imports all recipes from the backup file. Existing recipes are not removed — the backup recipes are added to your collection.
Tip We recommend creating a backup regularly, especially before updating iOS or getting a new device. Save the file to iCloud Drive for safekeeping.
Privacy Note Backup files are created and stored entirely on your device or in a location you choose. No data is sent to BHB Technologies or any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
