Welcome to Ressup
Ressup (pronounced "ress-up") is your hands-free cooking companion. It helps you create, organize, and cook through your recipes — using touch, voice, or both. The app is designed from the ground up to be fully accessible, so whether you use VoiceOver, Siri, or simply your fingers, every feature is within reach.
First Launch
When you open Ressup for the first time, you'll land on the Home Screen. There are no accounts to create, no logins, and no data to sync. You're ready to start adding recipes immediately.
Ressup may ask for permission to access your camera, photo library, or microphone the first time you use features that need them. You can grant or deny these permissions at any time via your iPhone's Settings app.
The Home Screen
The home screen is your central hub. It's organized into tappable category cards that help you quickly find or create recipes:
- Create — Tap to start a brand-new recipe from scratch.
- Test Kitchen — Recipes you're still experimenting with. A sandbox for ideas.
- Meal Time — Browse by when you eat: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snack.
- Dish Type — Browse by what it is: Starter, Main, Side, Dessert, Extras, or Drink.
- Cuisine — Browse by origin: Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian, American, Japanese, Thai, French, Greek, Mediterranean, or Other.
- A-Z — An alphabetized list of every recipe in your collection.
Tap any category card to expand it and see subcategories, then tap a subcategory to view your matching recipes.
The Menu
From the home screen, tap the menu button (three dots or similar icon in the toolbar) to access:
- Settings — Appearance, units, accessibility, backup, and more.
- Siri Shortcuts — View all available voice commands.
- Shared Recipes — Recipes you've received from others.
- Profile — Your display name and sharing history.
Navigation Basics
Ressup uses standard iOS navigation patterns:
- Tap a recipe to open its detail page.
- Use the back arrow or swipe from the left edge to go back.
- Long lists are scrollable with a search bar at the top when available.
Setting Your Preferences
Before diving in, you may want to configure a couple of things in Settings:
- Units — Choose between Imperial (cups, tablespoons, ounces) and Metric (grams, milliliters, liters). This affects how ingredient amounts are displayed throughout the app.
- Appearance — Choose System (follows your iPhone setting), Light, or Dark mode.
For full details on all settings, see the Settings & Preferences guide.
